Senior Software Engineer
We're looking for a Senior Test Engineer with a strong automation background to join a growing organisation delivering digital products across web and enterprise SaaS platforms. Role overview
We’re looking for a Senior Test Engineer with a strong automation background to join a growing organisation delivering digital products across web and enterprise SaaS platforms. This is a senior individual contributor position within a lean, high-impact quality engineering team where you’ll play a key role in shaping quality practices, improving release confidence and helping delivery teams build better software.
Working closely with Engineers, Product Managers and Designers, you’ll drive automation across UI, API and integration layers while embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle. You’ll balance automated testing with exploratory techniques, helping teams identify risks earlier and make informed quality decisions throughout delivery.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning test strategy, building robust automation frameworks and influencing engineering teams through a pragmatic, risk-based approach to quality.
The position operates on a hybrid basis, with travel anticipated to Manchester, the Midlands or London approximately once per month on average, increasing during busier delivery periods where required.
Skills Required
• 5+ years’ experience in software testing with strong senior-level automation expertise
• Proven experience building and maintaining automation across UI, API and integration testing layers
• Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman and REST Assured
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience working with Java and Python
• Experience using GitLab CI and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of modern quality engineering principles and risk-based testing approaches
• Practical experience of security testing concepts, including OWASP Top 10 awareness
• Experience conducting accessibility testing against WCAG standards
• Comfortable leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve testing efficiency and delivery outcomes
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience managing test data and working effectively within imperfect or evolving test environments
