You’ll be responsible for shaping the strategy, direction and maturity of Security Operations and Incident Response functions while helping the organisation defend against an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape.

Working closely with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure and Executive stakeholders, you’ll drive improvements across threat detection, incident response, cyber resilience and security automation. You’ll play a key role in ensuring security remains embedded throughout the technology lifecycle while developing the capabilities, processes and people required to protect a global enterprise environment.

The successful candidate will bring a hands-on understanding of modern cyber defence practices, cloud security and operational security tooling, alongside the leadership skills needed to build and develop high-performing global teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic leadership with technical decision-making, driving innovation through automation and intelligence-led defence.

Skills Required

• Proven leadership experience within Security Operations, Cyber Defence or Incident Response environments
• Strong understanding of SOC design, threat detection methodologies and cyber defence strategy
• Experience securing enterprise-scale cloud environments across AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
• Deep knowledge of modern cyber threats, attack techniques and threat actor behaviours
• Experience designing, implementing and automating incident response processes and workflows
• Strong understanding of security frameworks including NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF) and MITRE ATT&CK
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, SOAR and security monitoring technologies
• Experience leading and developing high-performing cyber security teams
• Strong knowledge of threat detection engineering, security monitoring and response operations
• Experience driving automation within cyber defence and security operations functions
• Understanding of cloud-native security architectures and modern enterprise security controls
• Experience conducting or supporting threat modelling, cyber readiness exercises and incident simulations
• Ability to remain effective and make informed decisions during high-pressure security incidents
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at both technical and executive levels
• Experience presenting cyber risk, operational metrics and security initiatives to senior leadership
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
• Experience working within Agile or modern technology delivery environments
• Passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence and security innovation

Ideal Background

• Experienced Cyber Defence Leader, SOC Manager or Incident Response Manager
• Proven track record managing sophisticated cyber threats and large-scale security incidents
• Strong technical understanding of cloud security and modern detection capabilities
• Experience spanning security operations, threat detection and response engineering
• Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on technical decision-making
• Experience building and scaling globally distributed security teams
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent
• Exposure to both offensive and defensive security disciplines would be highly advantageous
• Experience operating within complex, international technology organisations
• Strong understanding of security automation, intelligence-led defence and modern cyber resilience practices
