Role overview

We’re looking for a Commercial Director to join a fast-growing digital and technology consultancy, taking ownership of the commercial strategy, growth and performance of a key Private Sector business unit.

This is a senior leadership position for a commercially driven professional who thrives in high-value consulting and transformation environments. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping go-to-market strategy, driving revenue growth and developing long-term relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders at executive level.

The successful candidate will lead major commercial pursuits, oversee strategic accounts and help define the future direction of the sector. Working closely with executive leadership, delivery teams and alliance partners, you’ll ensure commercial objectives align with broader business goals while identifying new opportunities for growth and market expansion.

This role would suit someone with a strong background in digital, technology or transformation consulting who combines strategic thinking with hands-on commercial leadership. You’ll be comfortable leading large, complex deals, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding high-performing teams to achieve ambitious growth targets.

Skills Required

• Significant experience within consulting, professional services, digital transformation or technology services environments
• Strong market knowledge across Private Sector organisations, ideally including Retail, Banking or Insurance
• Proven experience developing and executing successful go-to-market strategies
• Demonstrable track record of driving revenue growth and commercial performance
• Experience leading commercial, business development or account management teams
• Proven success securing and negotiating large-scale, complex contracts, typically valued at £10m+
• Expertise in deal shaping, commercial modelling, pricing strategies and bid leadership
• Strong understanding of commercial risk management and governance principles
• Experience developing and managing strategic partnerships and alliance ecosystems
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently at C-suite and board level
• Experience owning or contributing to P&L performance and financial planning
• Strong commercial reporting, forecasting and pipeline management capabilities
• Excellent financial, legal and commercial judgement
• Ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into sustainable business growth
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills across clients, partners and industry communities
• Experience collaborating with delivery, proposition and executive teams to achieve commercial objectives
• Outstanding communication, negotiation and influencing skills
• A strategic, results-driven leadership style combined with a collaborative approach
• Strong people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams

Ideal Background

• Commercial Director, Sales Director, Client Partner or Managing Consultant within a technology or consulting organisation
• Experience leading growth initiatives within digital transformation, technology consulting or managed services
• Strong network across enterprise clients and technology ecosystems
• Proven history of delivering ambitious growth targets and expanding market presence
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth consultancy environments
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in priority deals and client engagements
